Green-e Energy certification has been awarded for the residential Renewable Energy Program and Green Power for Business program offered by WPPI Energy members. Green-e Energy was established by the non-profit Center for Resource Solutions to provide an objective standard verifying the sources of energy are in fact renewable resources, thus guaranteeing that consumers get what they pay for. Participation in the Renewable Energy Program among customers in member communities continues to grow. Residential customer participation across 40 WPPI Energy member communities was almost 2.6 percent in 2008, exceeding the 2007 national average of 2 percent cited by the NREL. Eight member communities - Evansville, Lake Mills, Lodi, Muscoda, River Falls, Stoughton, Oconto Falls and Waunakee - had participation levels exceeding 4 percent.
