WPPI Energy continues to work with its members to plan for meeting energy requirements in the various states in which members operate.
In Michigan, recent state legislation requires electric utilities to develop energy optimization plans to help customers save energy. WPPI Energy staff assisted Michigan members in creating these plans and developing joint implementation strategies with other Upper Peninsula utilities. The energy efficiency programs will be available to customers this fall.
In Iowa, municipal utilities are studying the potential energy and capacity savings that can be achieved through cost-effective energy efficiency programs. The utilities' final report, due to the Iowa Utilities Board in January 2010, will present energy savings goals and the programs and services the utilities will offer to meet those goals.
